  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • Red and green sanding sugars

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine softened butter, cream cheese, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Beat until light and fluffy.
  2. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Mix on low speed until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

  5. Use a cookie scoop to portion dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the baking sheet spaced apart.

  7. Sprinkle red or green sanding sugars on top of each cookie.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until slightly undercooked but not browned at the edges.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
