Ingredients
• 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
• ½ cup crumbled blue cheese
• ⅓ cup finely chopped walnuts (toasted for best flavor)
• 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or ½ tsp dried thyme)
• 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
• 1 tbsp honey (optional, for finishing)
• All-purpose flour (for dusting work surface)
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Puff Pastry
Lightly flour a clean work surface.
Roll out the puff pastry sheet into a rectangle (about 10×12 inches) to smooth out creases and ensure even thickness.
Step 3: Add the Filling
Evenly sprinkle the blue cheese over the pastry.
Scatter chopped walnuts on top, followed by fresh thyme leaves.
Gently press the mixture into the dough with your hands or a rolling pin to help it stick.
Step 4: Cut & Twist the Strips
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the pastry into ½ to 1-inch wide strips.
Take each strip and twist both ends in opposite directions to form a spiral.
Lay them flat on the prepared baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.
Step 5: Brush & Bake
Brush each twirl with the beaten egg to help them brown beautifully.
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
Step 6: Cool & Finish
Allow the twirls to cool slightly.
If desired, drizzle lightly with honey for a sweet-savory contrast.
Step 7: Serve Warm or at Room Temperature
Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy as an elegant snack or appetizer.
Notes
Keep Pastry Cold – If it softens while working, chill it in the fridge for 10 minutes before twisting.
Toast the Walnuts – Lightly toasting them enhances their flavor and crunch.
Choose Bold Blue Cheese – Roquefort or Gorgonzola offers deeper flavor.
Use Parchment Paper – Prevents sticking and makes cleanup easier.
Twist Evenly – Uniform twists ensure even baking and a professional look.
