  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, very softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed (for filling)
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger (for filling)
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice (for filling)
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (for filling)
  • 3/4 tsp ground cardamom (for filling)

  • 1/3 cup honey (for filling)
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for filling)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, very softened (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, spices, salt, eggs, vanilla extract, and softened butter; mix until well combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl and let rise for 60–90 minutes until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare the filling by mixing brown sugar and spices in a bowl.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter evenly over it.
  6. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the dough and roll tightly into a log shape.
  7. Cut the log into equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish.
  8. Cover rolls with cloth and let rise again for one hour until puffy.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. While baking, prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, spices, and softened butter until smooth.
