- 3 Tbsp butter
- 1 Tbsp chicken base
- 4 Tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 cups chicken stock
- 1/2 cup water
- Optional: 1/4 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with kosher salt and black pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook chicken for about 5 minutes on each side until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
- Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside. Reduce heat to medium-low, add butter and chicken base, stirring until melted.
- Add flour mixed with onion and garlic powders to create a roux; cook for 30 seconds.
- Gradually pour in chicken stock while scraping up bits from the pan. Add water and whisk until smooth; simmer until thickened.
- If desired, stir in heavy cream for added richness.
