Ingredients
To make these delicious cookies, you’ll need:
- 1 large ripe banana – Mashed, for natural sweetness and moisture.
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted – Adds richness and keeps the cookies soft.
- ½ cup brown sugar – For a hint of caramel-like sweetness.
- ¼ cup granulated sugar – Balances the sweetness.
- 1 large egg – Helps bind the cookies.
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – Enhances the flavor.
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour – The base of the cookies.
- ½ teaspoon baking soda – Helps them rise slightly.
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional) – Adds warmth and depth.
- ¼ teaspoon salt – Enhances all the flavors.
- ¾ cup chocolate chips – Semi-sweet or dark chocolate work best.
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional) – For extra crunch.
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
- In a large bowl, mash the banana until smooth.
- Add the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Whisk until well combined.
- Stir in the egg and vanilla extract.
Step 3: Combine the Dry Ingredients
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
Step 4: Mix & Fold
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
Step 5: Scoop and Bake
- Use a cookie scoop or spoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set.
Step 6: Cool and Enjoy
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
- Serve warm or store for later!
Notes
- Use Overripe Bananas – The riper the banana, the sweeter and more flavorful the cookies will be.
- Don’t Overmix – Stir until just combined to keep the cookies soft and tender.
- Chill the Dough (Optional) – If you have time, refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes for a chewier texture.
- Customize It – Swap walnuts for pecans, or use white chocolate chips for a fun twist!
