Ingredients
For the Mummies:
-
3 ripe bananas (not overly soft)
-
1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
-
½ cup white chocolate chips (for bandages)
-
12–18 small candy eyes
-
6 wooden popsicle sticks or skewers
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Bananas
Peel bananas and cut each one in half.
Insert a popsicle stick into each half to create banana “pops.”
Place on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 30–60 minutes until firm.
Step 2: Melt the Chocolate
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring between each until smooth.
Step 3: Coat the Bananas
Dip each frozen banana pop into the melted chocolate, using a spoon to help coat evenly.
Place them back on the parchment-lined tray.
Quickly press on two candy eyes before the chocolate sets.
Step 4: Add the Mummy Bandages
Melt white chocolate chips in a separate bowl.
Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag with the corner snipped off.
Drizzle the white chocolate over each banana in a zigzag pattern to mimic mummy bandages.
Step 5: Freeze and Serve
Return the finished mummies to the freezer for 15–20 minutes to set.
Serve cold or store frozen until ready to eat.
Notes
Use Firm Bananas – They hold up better during dipping and freezing.
Freeze Before Dipping – Helps the chocolate harden quickly.
Add a Touch of Coconut Oil – Mixing 1 tsp into the chocolate makes dipping smoother.
Let Kids Help – This is a fun recipe for little hands to decorate.
Add Texture – Roll the dipped bananas in crushed graham crackers before adding the drizzle for a twist.
