Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.

Stir in melted butter and egg until smooth.

Add flour and salt gradually, mixing until a dough forms.

Knead by hand or with a mixer for 6–8 minutes until dough is soft and elastic.

Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix softened butter, sugar, lemon zest, lemon juice, and poppy seeds until combined and spreadable.
