  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 white onion (peeled & thinly sliced)
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 pkg medium egg noodles
  • 4 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in salted water until al dente; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large Dutch oven, heat canola oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, and onion powder; cook until browned.
  3. Stir in sliced onions and cook until they are tender.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine milk and chicken broth; whisk together.
  5. Push the meat mixture to one side of the pot, sprinkle flour into the empty space, and whisk to form a roux.
  6. Slowly add the milk mixture while whisking continuously until well combined. Simmer until thickened.
  7. Return drained pasta to its pot, add butter, and stir until melted.
  8. Serve buttered noodles topped with generous amounts of gravy.
