Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 and 1/2 cups warm water (110-115˚F)
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 5 tablespoons melted butter
  • Salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by combining warm water, yeast, and sugar in a stand mixer bowl. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add melted butter, salt, and half of the flour to the yeast mixture. Mix on low speed while gradually incorporating the remaining flour until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on medium-low speed or by hand until smooth and elastic (about 7–10 minutes).
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover loosely, and let rise in a warm area for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Shape the risen dough into small logs (16–18 pieces) about 7 inches long and arrange them on a greased baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Allow shaped breadsticks to rise again for about an hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) while the second rise occurs.
  8. Bake breadsticks for about 14–15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Brush hot breadsticks with a mixture of melted butter, salt, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning immediately after baking.
