Ingredients
For the Beef:
1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp vegetable oil
For the Sauce:
½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
⅓ cup brown sugar
¼ cup water
1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional for added depth)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
For the Noodles:
8 oz lo mein, spaghetti, or rice noodles
1 tbsp vegetable oil (for stir-frying)
3 green onions, sliced
1 cup shredded carrots or snow peas (optional)
For Garnish:
Toasted sesame seeds
Extra sliced green onions
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Noodles

Cook noodles according to package instructions.

Drain, rinse with cold water, and set aside.
Step 2: Toss and Cook the Beef

In a bowl, toss sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Sear beef in batches for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
Step 3: Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, water, hoisin sauce (if using), garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.

Pour into the skillet and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring often, until sauce slightly thickens.
Step 4: Combine Noodles, Beef & Sauce

Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the sauce.

Add drained noodles and stir well to coat everything evenly.

Add green onions and any optional veggies. Cook for another 1–2 minutes until heated through.
