Ingredients

For the Beef:
1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil
1 tbsp vegetable oil

For the Sauce:
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
¾ cup beef broth or water
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp cornstarch
½ tsp ground black pepper

For the Stir-Fry:
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated

Instructions

Step 1: Marinate the Beef
In a bowl, toss beef strips with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp cornstarch, and sesame oil. Set aside to marinate for 10–15 minutes.

Step 2: Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, cornstarch, and black pepper. Set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Beef
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef in batches and sear until browned, about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.

Step 4: Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add bell peppers and onion. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender. Add garlic and ginger, cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Step 5: Combine and Simmer
Return the beef to the skillet. Pour in the prepared sauce and stir well. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the meat and vegetables.

Step 6: Serve
Remove from heat. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Slice Beef Thinly – For tenderness and quick cooking
Use High Heat – Helps sear the beef and keep veggies crisp
Don’t Overcrowd the Pan – Cook beef in batches to avoid steaming
Fresh Garlic & Ginger – Add more depth to your sauce
Customize – Add mushrooms, snap peas, or broccoli for extra veggies
