  • 2 tablespoons frying oil
  • 7 ounces cremini mushrooms
  • 1/4 broccoli head
  • 1 large carrot
  • 2 green onions
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1-inch piece of ginger
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 8 cups chicken broth
  • 24 oz package store-bought dumplings (chicken or vegetable)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seed oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the vegetables: slice mushrooms, cut broccoli into florets, julienne carrots, grate garlic and ginger, and thinly slice green onions.
  2. Heat frying oil in a large pot over high heat. Add mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, and the white parts of green onions; sauté until softened.
  3. Stir in garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes; cook for one minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in chicken broth; bring to a boil then reduce heat to simmer for five minutes.
  5. Add dumplings according to package instructions (usually about three minutes).
  6. Stir in soy sauce and sesame oil; garnish with remaining green onions before serving.
