1 tsp sesame oil
For the Sauce:
-
¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
-
2 tbsp hoisin sauce
-
2 tbsp oyster sauce
-
1 tbsp honey
-
1 tbsp brown sugar
-
2 tsp rice vinegar
-
2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
-
¼ cup water
For the Stir Fry:
-
8 oz rice noodles or lo mein noodles
-
2 tbsp vegetable oil
-
3 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
-
1 small red bell pepper, thinly sliced
-
1 cup shredded carrots
-
2 green onions, sliced
-
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Beef
Place the thinly sliced beef in a bowl.
Add soy sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Toss until evenly coated.
Let it marinate for 10–15 minutes while prepping other ingredients.
Step 2: Cook the Noodles
Cook noodles according to package instructions.
Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking.
Toss with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
Step 3: Make the Sauce
In a small saucepan, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin, oyster sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and water.
Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 4: Sear the Beef
Heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat.
Add the marinated beef in a single layer (in batches if needed).
Sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
Remove from the pan and set aside.
Step 5: Sauté the Veggies
In the same skillet, add 1 tbsp oil.
Add garlic and ginger, sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Toss in bell pepper and carrots, stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until just tender.
Step 6: Combine Everything
Return the beef to the skillet with the vegetables.
Add cooked noodles and pour the sauce over everything.
Toss everything together using tongs to ensure the noodles are well-coated.
Cook for 2 more minutes to heat through and allow the sauce to cling.
Step 7: Garnish and Serve
Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if using.
Serve hot straight from the pan, or transfer to serving bowls.
Notes
Slice Beef Thinly – For tenderness, cut against the grain.
High Heat Stir-Fry – Keeps beef juicy and veggies crisp.
Don’t Overcook Noodles – Slightly underdone is best since they’ll finish cooking in the pan.
Customize the Veggies – Use snow peas, broccoli, mushrooms, or whatever you have.
Adjust Sauce Thickness – More slurry for thicker, less for thinner sauce.
