Ingredients
For the Pudding Layer:
-
1 package (5.1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
-
2 cups cold whole milk
-
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 ½ cups whipped topping (or homemade whipped cream)
For the Fruit & Layers:
-
3 ripe bananas, sliced
-
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
-
1 box (11 oz) vanilla wafers
-
Extra whipped topping for top layer
-
Crushed wafers or fresh fruit for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Vanilla Pudding
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and cold milk for about 2 minutes.
-
Add the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
-
Fold in the whipped topping gently until fully incorporated.
-
Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes to set slightly.
Step 2: Prep the Fruit
-
Wash, hull, and slice the strawberries.
-
Peel and slice the bananas into even rounds.
-
If not assembling right away, toss banana slices with a bit of lemon juice to prevent browning.
Step 3: Assemble the Pudding
-
In your chosen serving dish, spread a layer of vanilla wafers on the bottom.
-
Top with a layer of sliced bananas and strawberries.
-
Spoon a layer of the pudding mixture over the fruit and spread evenly.
-
Repeat the layers: wafers, fruit, pudding—until the dish is filled, ending with a pudding layer.
Step 4: Add the Topping
-
Spread a final layer of whipped topping over the pudding.
-
Garnish with crushed vanilla wafers, banana slices, strawberry slices, or a combination.
Step 5: Chill Before Serving
-
Cover and refrigerate the pudding for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor and texture.
-
Serve chilled with a spoonful of all the delicious layers in each bite.
Notes
Use Ripe Fruit – Bananas and strawberries should be ripe for maximum sweetness.
Layer Thoughtfully – Keep layers even for a balanced bite every time.
Prevent Banana Browning – A touch of lemon juice helps preserve color.
Chill Well – Time in the fridge allows flavors to meld and wafers to soften perfectly.
Serve in Clear Glass – Show off those beautiful layers in a trifle dish or cups.
