Ingredients
For the Casserole:
-
1 lb ground turkey sausage
-
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
-
2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
-
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional for topping)
-
½ tsp garlic powder
-
¼ tsp onion powder
-
Salt and black pepper to taste
-
2 green onions, sliced (optional for garnish)
Optional Add-ins:
-
½ cup sautéed bell peppers or mushrooms
-
½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (for heat)
-
¼ cup chopped spinach or kale
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prep
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Step 2: Cook the Turkey Sausage
-
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the turkey sausage, breaking it into crumbles until fully browned (about 6–8 minutes).
-
Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
-
Reduce heat to low and stir in the cream cheese until melted and fully combined.
-
Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 3: Assemble the Casserole
-
Unroll one can of crescent dough and press it into the bottom of the baking dish to form an even layer.
-
Spread the turkey sausage and cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough.
-
Add any optional fillings like sautéed veggies or spinach at this stage.
-
Unroll the second can of crescent dough and lay it gently over the sausage layer. Pinch seams as needed.
-
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top (optional).
Step 4: Bake and Serve
-
Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set.
-
Let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
-
Garnish with sliced green onions if desired and serve warm.
Notes
Use Softened Cream Cheese – It blends better and melts smoothly into the sausage.
Seal the Dough – Press seams together to prevent filling from leaking.
Let It Cool Slightly – Makes it easier to slice cleanly and serve.
Customize Freely – Add hot sauce, herbs, or your favorite veggies for variety.
Double the Batch – Great for freezing leftovers or feeding a larger crowd.
