Ingredients

For the Cookies:
2¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1½ cups packed light brown sugar
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract

For Rolling:
¼ cup granulated sugar

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
Set aside.

Step 3: Cream the Butter and Sugars
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together on medium speed for about 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy.

Step 4: Add Eggs and Vanilla
Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
Add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.

Step 5: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
Use a spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl and ensure everything is mixed evenly.

Step 6: Shape the Cookies
Scoop about 1½ tablespoons of dough and roll it into balls.
Roll each ball lightly in the granulated sugar and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.

Step 7: Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 9–11 minutes until the edges are set but the centers look slightly underbaked.
They will continue to cook as they cool on the baking sheet.

Step 8: Cool
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Don’t Overbake – Take them out when the centers still look a little soft for the chewiest cookies.
Use Softened Butter – It should be soft enough to leave a dent when pressed but not melted.
Measure Flour Properly – Spoon and level the flour for accurate measurement to avoid dry cookies.
Make Even-Sized Cookies – Use a cookie scoop for uniform baking and appearance.
