Ingredients

Scale

For the Casserole:

  • 1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced sirloin steak

  • 1 green bell pepper, diced

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 8 oz uncooked short pasta (penne, rotini, or elbows)

  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ cup cream cheese, cubed

  • 1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half

Optional Toppings:

  • Extra shredded cheese

  • Chopped parsley

  • Crushed red pepper flakes

Instructions

Step 1: Brown the Beef

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef or thin-sliced steak until browned and fully cooked.

  2. Drain excess grease and transfer meat to the crockpot.

Step 2: Add Veggies and Seasoning

  1. Add diced bell pepper, onion, and minced garlic to the crockpot.

  2. Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  3. Stir to combine.

Step 3: Slow Cook the Base

  1. Cover and cook on LOW for 4–5 hours or HIGH for 2–3 hours until the vegetables are soft and flavors meld together.

Step 4: Add Pasta and Creamy Ingredients

  1. After the initial cooking time, stir in uncooked pasta, cream cheese, and heavy cream.

  2. Cover and cook on HIGH for another 20–30 minutes, or until pasta is tender, stirring once halfway through.

  3. Stir in shredded provolone and mozzarella cheese until melted and creamy.

Step 5: Finish and Serve

  1. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

  2. Serve hot, garnished with extra cheese, parsley, or a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.

Notes

Use Short Pasta – Rotini, penne, or elbows hold up well in the slow cooker.
Don’t Overcook the Pasta – Add near the end and check for doneness early.
Use Room Temp Dairy – Helps cream cheese and cream blend more smoothly.
For More Cheesesteak Flavor – Add sliced mushrooms or swap in shaved steak.
Stir Gently – Keeps pasta intact and evenly coated in sauce.
