Ingredients

Scale

For the Stuffed Pears:

  • 3 ripe but firm pears (such as Bosc or Anjou)

  • ½ cup crumbled blue cheese (Gorgonzola, Roquefort, or Danish blue work well)

  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (toasted for extra flavor)

  • 12 tbsp honey (for drizzling)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (to prevent browning)

  • Fresh thyme leaves (optional, for garnish)

  • Freshly cracked black pepper (optional)

Optional Additions:

  • Dried cranberries or pomegranate seeds for a pop of color

  • A small dollop of cream cheese to soften the blue cheese flavor

  • Balsamic glaze instead of honey for a tangy twist

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Pears
Cut the pears in half lengthwise.
Use a spoon or melon baller to scoop out the seeds and core, creating a small well in each half.
Brush the cut sides with lemon juice to keep the pears from browning.

Step 2: Make the Filling
In a bowl, combine crumbled blue cheese and chopped walnuts.
If desired, add a small spoonful of cream cheese to mellow the blue cheese intensity and help bind the mixture.

Step 3: Stuff the Pears
Spoon the cheese and nut mixture into the hollowed centers of each pear half.
Pack gently so the filling stays in place but don’t overfill.

Step 4: Finish with a Drizzle
Place the stuffed pears on a serving platter or individual plates.
Drizzle lightly with honey or balsamic glaze.
Sprinkle with fresh thyme and cracked black pepper, if using.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy
Serve immediately as a chilled appetizer or allow to sit at room temperature for 10–15 minutes to enhance the flavors.
Pairs wonderfully with a crisp salad or as part of a cheese board.

Notes

Choose Ripe, Firm Pears – You want them sweet and juicy but sturdy enough to hold the filling.
Toast the Nuts – Toasting enhances flavor and adds crunch.
Balance the Flavors – Add a touch of cream cheese or mascarpone for a softer flavor profile.
Serve at Room Temperature – It brings out the sweetness of the pears and the creaminess of the cheese.
Get Creative – Try swapping blue cheese for goat cheese or brie for a different twist.
